Concordance

Explore Scripture by Word

The Concordance is a Bible study tool that helps you explore the deeper meaning of words used in Scripture.

When you read the Bible in English, you are reading a translation of the original Hebrew and Greek texts. A concordance allows you to look beneath the translation and explore the original words used in the biblical manuscripts.

In Open & Seek, the concordance is powered by Strong's Concordance, which connects English words in Scripture to their original Hebrew or Greek word. This allows you to study what a word originally meant, how it appears across Scripture, and how it contributes to the meaning of a passage.

How to Use the Concordance

1

Search for a word

Type a word into the search bar. Examples: Faith, Peace, Wisdom, Grace, Truth, Hope, Fear. The concordance will return verses where that word appears throughout Scripture.

2

Explore the verses

Results are grouped by Bible book so you can see how the word appears across different parts of Scripture. The searched word will be highlighted inside each verse.

3

Open the verse

Click a verse to open the full passage in the Bible Reader so you can read the surrounding context.

4

Study the original word

Because Open & Seek includes Strong's Concordance, you can explore the original Hebrew or Greek word behind the translation. This allows you to see the original word, its definition, and other passages where that same word appears.

The concordance is one of the most powerful tools for studying the Bible because it helps reveal how individual words shape the meaning of Scripture. By exploring how a word appears across different books and contexts, you begin to see how the message of the Bible unfolds across the entire text. This tool helps readers move from simply reading a verse to studying and understanding Scripture more deeply.
